even though the price is more then a thermo electric cooler the edge star
is totaly above thermo electrics ,they work really well at keepings cold or frozen the digital thermo state has a very wide range and remembers it,s setting if it loses power, the fast freeze button works very well if you want to cool things down in a hurry, it is very quiet when i first turned it on i didn't think it was working because i didn't hear any thing but when the temp started to drop i knew it was ok , compact appliance was very fast in their delivery and was packed one box inside another ,so no chance for damage plus they have the lowest price i could find on the internet

We received the freezer faster than expected, unpacked it, read the instructions, plugged it into AC current and turned it on to test it. It worked perfectly.
We will not really use it until the temperature is warmer and we go camping, which is the application we bought it for. We hope DC current operation is as good as AC.
The process to sign up for warranty was not intuitive, but the company providing the warranty helped us through things fine.

I have purchased 2 coolers and both have been so great for a over the road truck driver. I have used it as a frig or a freezer. My first freezer was destroyed in a truck fire or I would still have it. It works so well and freezes everything great with the digital setting. The only thing is that the cigerette lighter cord is made very cheaply and broke in a few days. I can use a 300 or 400 watt inverter tho and works well without taking much power. I am in the process of buying another freezer for a friend. The 43 qt size works best in the truck. It is well worth the money.

We purchased another (major) brand portable freezer from a large camping store. Product did not work as advertised and could not get any help from either the store or the manufacturer. Found this Edgestar for less monay and has a larger capacity and operates as advertised. Also, no problem maintaining zero degrees with outside ambient temp of 90+ degrees. We are very happy with this product.

Just what I imagined it would be. Very sturdy. First couple days I used it as a frigerator. Nice cold drinks. Last couple weeks I have used it as a freezer. The temp gauge is constantly below 0. Frozen fish has been great. Very happy with unit. Just wish I would have bought it sooner.

We used it this week for the first time on our boat and it worked great!! We didn't have to worry about buying ice. Before we would spend about $65.00 on ice now we just plug it in and our drinks are nice and cold.. Thank You, it was a Great buy !!!!

Our hobby is Competition BBQ cooking which means we need to have food items with us when traveling to competiutions. We keep a lot of food in food transport containers and keep them cold with gell packs. The portable freezer lets us refreeze gell packs at will. It also helps keep ice to replenish our drink cooler while traveling. I have a 7 pin adapter for my wiring harness which allows us to set the freezer in the back of my truck and plug into the 7 pin adapter which has a 12 volt recepticle built into the adapter. Does a great job for us.

Great Traveling Freezer

For years we have been selling our Scottish meat products - yes, haggis - from a cooler with ice packs to keep it frozen on hot summer days at Scottish outdoor festivals. This compact, lightweight freezer is ideal! We use either the standard electrical connection when we have it, or run it off a portable 12 volt generator (the kind you use to jump start your car). Amazing how little power this needs - and temperature reading on the side assures us and our customers that the product is still frozen. Even on the long drive home, this freezer retains its cold temperatures for hours when not plugged in. My husband and I can lift it easily even filled with plenty of heavy product. What a find!

It is not loud at all.
This unit is built very well, all steel.
Use's less amps than others I have had in the pass.
It saves me money and time on the road, and to eat healther-lot better than truck stop food!

I have had the frig for a few weeks. So far I love it. CA Shpping was fast and packaging was heavy duty. The only negative thing I have noticed is the temp will fluctuate about 3 degrees either way. Going camping this weekend and the 46qt holds everything we need. I was a little worried about the single latch but lid stays shut tight.

I spend well more then the purchase price on ice each year. Camping, hunting, boating... This will be a life saver. I am excited about using it on long fishing trips so I can vacuum seal my fish and freeze it on the boat. Sometimes we are out for a week at a time and there is no where to get ice. I figure I can freeze reusable ice packs along with the fish and rotate them to another cooler for food.

We were pleased at how well this product works - it reaches freezing temperatures quickly and is truly easy to use. It is a bit heavy, but we feel that is more than a reasonable trade off for the excellent cooling power of this device. We have already used it to freeze extra ice cubes and plan on putting it in the cargo area of the SUV when we shop at the club stores. We did not find the hinges to be weak or cheap and we found the clasp on the lid to be just fine. This is a truly well made, excellent product. We recommend it highly and are absolutely thrilled with it.

Quiet. Easy on the battery. Keeps food COLD, far better than an ice chest, especially in our southwestern desert area - no funky melt water slopping around in the bottom for the tortillas to fall into. No more ice purchases. Plenty of internal space for car camping food, but smaller externally than an ice chest that would hold the same amount of food plus ice. You can add warm beer at any time and get it cold. Great little fridge. Well made. Easily worth the money!

Good alternative to the name brand fridges

The fridge works great. I use the fridge non stop in the garage to keep beverages cold and save space in the house fridge. On camping trips it's great to not have to buy and keep an eye on the ice. It uses very little power when running of the jeeps battery. I've let it run 3 days before it dropped the battery's voltage down enough to shut the fridge off. My only complaint so far is the 12 volt power cord. It's too short and kind of fragile but the awesome customer service from CA got me a replacement free off charge. This fridge is a great alternative to the more expensive "name brand" fridges. I have had mine for more than a year now, on numerous offroad adventures and have never regreted buying this fridge.

I am a long haul truck driver and bought this unit for keeping meals frozen. My wife freezes my dinner meal. She labels the date and contents on the packages. I come home once a month so we load up the freezer with the meals. There are 2 racks in the unit so there is no need to move the unit in and out of the truck. However, the unit is not that heavy, even if it has to be removed.The freezer holds over 30 days worth of frozen meals. The meals stay frozen solid. I heat the meals up and it's like I am home. It's great for saving my family money and my time. The nutritional value is great.

Pros: Cold adult beverages, Door Shuts Securely, Quiet, Attractive Design, Low power consumption
Brought this last May, and one year later it is still working like a charm (why did I buy that extended warranty). Have used it for tailgating, camping, extra space for parties. My favorite use is for picking up stuff at the big box stores, ice cream, frozen food, milk...Made a nice plug for it in the back of my CRV, directly from the battery, now when ever I travel it is in the back...
Now I leave it in my garage as an extra fridge, I no longer have to go back it to the house for a beverage and I don't have to worry about the electric bill going up...
Only minus is they don't make a smaller version of this, would buy one in a second, had to go buy a different brand..

We are over the road truck drivers and we use it for all our frozen items. It keeps things frozen and has plenty of room. It is very quiet and meets all our needs for storage. We also use it at home in the car to purchase refrigerator and freezer items.
