Best Uses: Commercial Environment / Restaurant, Kitchen
Bought a full cube maker version Ice-O-matic unit a week ago for replacement of an under counter clear ice maker that died on me. Although the unit says it must be installed by an Ice-O-Matic certified installer I had it hooked up in about 3 hours (including the water filter and on the floor drain pump box and a trip to the hardware store for cuplings and stuff), pluged it in and flipped the switch. From the getgo it made clear full cube batch of 7/8 X 7/8 X 1-1/4 inch ice every 5 to 7 minutes. In 4 to 5 hours the 100 lbs bin was 3/4 full. Ice is clear and it stays clear. The unit automatically shuts off when the bin is full and restarts when it melts a bit below the sensor. I have 3 shot glass under counter ice makers and need a lot of ice for fishing. All three units combined do not make half the ice of this Ice-O-Matic. I'm glad I made made this choice.
Unit is well made with stainless steel outside, has legs that keep it about a foot off the ground so it makes it easy to install the drain pump box on the ground under the unit to allow gravity drain from ice maker into drain pump box. Ice bin door slides up and stays up if needed. Ice bin is well insulated and keeps the ice for a long while. It has a circulationg water flush button, a wash switch to flush the bin. Would highly recommend this product. Its well worth the few hundred dollars extra to under counter units.
Other notes: room size is 13 by 13 and a basement kintchenette, ambiant temp about 76F with the unit running. My unit is air cooled. If you are considering this for a 5 X 5 ft pantry room it may warm it up bit more. Makes the amount of ice as written in its specs.
