Our kitchen currently does not have the option of having an fridge with a built in ice maker and we were in the dark ages of using ice trays and always running out. This ice maker sits on top of our beverage fridge and makes ice all day long! When we first got it, it seemed kind of loud but within an hour or so we were use to it and now we don't even know it's there. We love the bullet shaped cubes that seem to keep beverages really cold. Would we recommend? YES!

I have been looking for a portable ice maker for a while as I am a ice lover. Saw this one online and the reviews were very good and bought it and have been making ice from day one. So very easy to use and love the large size ice it makes.

Works perfectly, just what I expected after reading all the other reviews. Purchased this to help with the fridge icemaker, to keep a cooler full of beer cold over the weekend. Does that, and no more trips to Wawa for two dollar bags of ice.

We bought this ice maker after doing a lot of searching. We use it in our RV since it doesn't have an ice maker in it. Now we don't have to keep large bags of ice in our freezer taking up so much space. I would recommend this ice maker to any one that is looking for a reliable and very smart looking machine. It fits perfectly on the kitchen counter and looks good as well.

This is my 2nd portable ice maker. First was EdgeStar and it lasted 5 years and made tons of ice. The new Sunpentown Portable Ice Maker
should live up to that expectation. It takes around 2 hrs to fill the first basket. Expect it to take around 1.5 hrs per basket after the first one. Each baketful equals a 1 gal zip bag. The first week I had the machine I made 16 bags of ice. All you really have to do is add water when necessary and empty the basket when it gets full. If it runs out of water, it shuts down. If the basket overfills, it shuts down. The first 2 cycles on the first basket produce small, thin cubes. After that the cubes are all uniform in size. I keep the cube size setting set to Large. Hope this helps.

Perfect little ice maker

My order arrived when promised and was fairly easy to set up. I began using it immediately after receiving. The first day I made 6 one gallon zipbags of ice. When the basket fills with ice, simply pour it into the zipbag, add more water to the reservoir, if needed, and let it go. The zipbags make for easier storage in a chest freezer. It is a perfect little icemaker for those of us that don't have an icemaker in the fridge. This product is a replacement for a similar EdgeStar that I used for five years. I suspect this one will last longer due to the advantage of the metal hinge pin on the ice shovel.

I Hated the blue tape that came with the product, keeping it together. It was hell to get off. BUT the product itself was great :) Love it! I have Ice anytime I want, which is awesome. I don't think it would be great for a party, though. It doesn't make enough ice for a Lot of people at once- just like, 8 I guess.

I HAVE OWNED 3 MAGIC CHEF UNITS THAT HAVE FAILED DUE TO A POOR SHOVLE HINGE DESIGN. THE NEW UNIT HAS A METAL HINGE PIN IN STEAD OF A CAST PLASTIC HINGE PIN.
